> Judicial Reviews (for and against local authorities and other public bodies);

> Planning, compulsory purchase orders, commercial land/property  and partnership disputes;

> Employment (including discrimination, equal pay, unfair, redundancy, restrictive covenants and TUPE cases); 

> Contractual and procurement (including State Aid); and

> General civil, clinical & professional negligence and other personal injury litigation such as road traffic, employers and public liability claims.

Mirza has high level experiences of appearing as a successful advocate in the Royal Courts of Justice, the Rolls Building, other High / County Courts and Employment Tribunals - including appeals relating to professional bodies (such as doctors, surgeons, pharmacists and nurses).

Mirza has also dealt with a number of Appeals (including at the Employment Appeals Tribunal) and has built up a substantial reputation of advising the public, direct, under the Bar Direct Public Access Rules.

Mirza has been the General Editor  of ‘Local Authority Employment – Law & Practice’ (since 2009) and ‘Knight’s Guide to Best Value & Public Procurement’  (from 2007 - 2014).  He has also published booklets on ‘The implications of the Human Rights Act1988 for UK local Government’ (1988) and, from 2009 to 2011, launched 6 booklets on ‘Firing up the Passion for Excellence in Local Government’.
