I am a junior barrister who moved to Farrar's Building having previously worked as a barrister for the Government, where I worked in the Immigration Department, the Department for Transport and the Department for Exiting the European Union. I am known for being approachable and pragmatic and appears in court on a daily basis so is very comfortable with the courtroom environment. I am also currently one of the junior barristers working on the Grenfell Inquiry and the Legacy Inquests in Northern Ireland. Having previously worked in house for the Government in their Immigration Teams, I am uniquely placed to advise clients on applications and appeals. I still do immigration work for the Government so am familiar with their policies and practices and understand how best to help clients to achieve the outcome they want, whether that is by way of a fresh application, pushing for a reconsideration or an appeal to the First Tier Tribunal. I will happily accept instructions in all areas of immigration law from business entrepreneurs and investors to students to those seeking protection as a refugee.
I have appeared in Employment Tribunals on behalf of clients and will happily advise you on any potential employment claim, ultimately representing you in a Tribunal hearing if that is necessary. As an example of my employment practice, I represented a client who was constructively dismissed whilst pregnant and we fought to get her the compensation she deserved.
I have been instructed on a public access basis by a client who was faced with a winding up petition from a company due to non-payment of debt. I successfully drafted the grounds for an application to prevent the business from being wound up, which was ultimately granted at a hearing.
I have been instructed by clients on a public access basis to advise on contractual disputes, quite often between their business and another. This can involve giving advice on the chances of you winning the dispute, together with advice on how best to negotiate with the other side if they are going to win the dispute.
I have appeared before the NMC before to represent a client and have also had some exposure to SRA proceedings through more senior barristers. I will happily represent medical and healthcare professionals before bodies such as the NMC, GMC and GDC, amongst others.
ADVICE ON DISCRETE AREAS OF LAW
I have advised clients on discrete areas of law in order to give them peace of mind when they are faced with tricky circumstances. For example, I advised a client who was being threatened with discrimination proceedings as a result of discussions in the workplace so that she could properly understand her position and go into workplace meetings with confidence.
