ProfileKate is a barrister who accepts instructions in civil, family and criminal work. She is a qualified public access barrister.
Kate has developed a solid civil practice with advocacy experience of interim hearings and trials representing both claimants and defendants in small claims, fast track and multi-track claims in the County Court and High Court.
Kate has acted for a full range of clients including individuals, insurers, charities, finance companies and local authorities.
Prior to joining chambers Kate worked as a solicitor’s agent so has had previous advocacy experience representing clients in possession claims against both tenants and mortgagors as well as other general civil litigation.
In chambers Kate has built on this experience which includes:
- representing defendants in multiday trials concerning a housing trust applications for an anti-social behaviour order injunctions and possession orders;
- representing parties to applications for orders for sale under the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act (TOLATA) 1996;
- advising freeholders, leaseholders and tenants on service charge disputes.
In suitable cases, Kate may accept instructions on a CFA or discounted fee basis.
Kate was graded a Commendation on the Common Professional Examination with the highest mark awarded that year and was awarded the Sweet & Maxwell CPE Prize. Following pupillage, Kate has developed a busy practice encompassing all of chambers’ practice areas with particular expertise in the practice areas listed below.
In her spare time Kate enjoys playing netball, skiing, travelling and gastronomy.
Kate accepts instructions in all aspects of property litigation and has had experience of disputes concerning the sale of land, mortgage possession claims, residential and commercial landlord and tenant matters including service charge disputes.
Kate has been instructed on cases involving trusts of land and cohabitation disputes.
Kate has experience in various common law matters including tortious disputes, contractual claims and employment matters appearing on behalf of both claimants and defendants.
Kate is happy to accept instructions in general civil litigation including: personal insolvency, debt recovery, charging orders, orders for sale, interim applications, case management hearings and infant approval hearings.
Kate has advised and represented clients in private family matters relating to applications for Child Arrangements Orders, Specific Issues Orders and Prohibited Steps Orders. Kate has experience conducting cases where there is an overlap between private family matters and disputes relating to property.
Kate has been instructed to prosecute and defend a range of motoring offences and is knowledgeable about procedure and practice when dealing with drink driving offences.
