Mark Sullivan was called to the Bar in 1997. Prior to coming to the Bar he qualified as a Chartered Accountant and then worked for 15 years in international investment banking in London and New York.
He is based in Winchester but his Chambers have centres in London, Bristol, Birmingham, Bournemouth and Oxford. He is prepared to travel anywhere in the country if necessary.
Originally, primarily a criminal practitioner specialising in fraud, serious drugs and regulatory offences, he now concentrates on:
Personal injury/ clinical negligence - in particular fatal accidents, complex loss of earnings calculations and cases in involving difficult issues of breach of duty and causation. He has extensive experience of representing bereaved families at Inquests, including Article 2 Inquests;
Professional negligence - particularly in relation to accountants and tax advisers;
Professional disciplinary and regulatory law. In addition to representing individuals and firms before their professional regulator he sits as a Legal Assessor to the Nursing & Midwifery Council and the General Dental Council.
Commercial work with particular emphasis on civil fraud.
As a result of his experience before coming to the Bar, he has a strong commercial sense as well as a thorough understanding of the law in the areas in which he practises.
