Profile

I specialise in professional negligence, commercial and company disputes, and insolvency matters. I am listed in the Chambers and Partners and Legal 500 guides which identify barristers with strengths in particular areas (see quotations below).

I regularly act for both claimants and professionals in a wide range of professional negligence claims. I have extensive experience in claims relating to solicitors' and barristers' breach of duty and claims against surveyors, architects, accountants and financial advisors. My cases range from multi-million pound commercial court actions (Symrise AG v Baker & McKenzie [2015] EWHC 912 (Comm)) to actions brought by householders or consumers or against sole traders. I am listed in the Chambers and Partners and Legal 500 guides.

I have wide-ranging experience of commercial, company disputes and insolvency matters. My practice includes commercial contract matters, civil fraud actions, directors' duties and misfeasance cases, disqualification proceedings, and bankruptcy matters. I taught commercial contract law at the LSE in 2009 and 2010, and have published a number of articles including on the implied term of good faith, equitable subrogation and solicitors' negligence cases. I appeared in a leading Supreme Court case on directors (Holland v HMRC [2009] EWCA Civ 625).

My practice is approximately split between advisory work (written and telephone advices to clients on the merits of their cases) and more contentious work. I have extensive experience of litigation in the High Court and county courts throughout England. I also regularly represent clients at mediations, negotiations, roundtables and other settlement meetings.
