I enjoy a busy traditional and commercial Chancery practice. My expertise is in trusts, wills and estates, with a focus on succession/inheritance and property disputes, pensions, charities and administration issues. In particular, probate disputes, 1975 Act claims, the interpretation of wills, questions as to the ownership of assets and setting aside transactions form the backbone of my practice.

My practice compliments my considerable expertise in pensions related matters, having acted and advised in relation to pensions liberation schemes, amendments to trust deeds, pensions administration, trustee disclosure, the winding up of schemes and the interaction between bankruptcy and pensions.

I also deal with matters with a commercial flavour. Fraud and asset tracing and recovery in particular form an important part of my practice, and I act regularly in relation to company and shareholder disputes (including unfair prejudice petitions), partnerships, insolvency, business contract disputes, guarantees and finance related matters.

I also handle professional negligence related cases within my fields of expertise (such as negligence in relation to wills).

My practice is primarily litigation based, but I have a wealth of experience in non-contentious drafting and advisory work. I appear regularly in the High Court, and have acted on numerous matters before the Court of Appeal. In addition, I have had many successes representing clients at mediations.

I have experience acting in large scale, complex, important and high profile cases. My past cases include:

- Elliott v Simmonds [2016] EWHC 732 & [2016] EWHC 962;

- Ong v Ping [2015] EWHC 1742, [2015] 6 Costs LR 997 & [2015] EWHC 3766;

- Walker v Badmin [2014] EWHC 71;

- HR Trustees Ltd v Wembley Plc [2011] EWHC 2974;

- Haq v Island Homes [2011] EWCA Civ 805;

- Yewbelle Ltd v London Green Developments Ltd. & Anor [2007] EWCA Civ 475; and

- Jarrom v Sellars [2007] EWHC 1366.

I am often instructed on cases with an international element, with experience of matters involving other jurisdictions including Jersey/Guernsey, the Caribbean, Ireland, Singapore, Switzerland and the US.

I am equally at home acting as sole counsel or being led, and I particularly enjoy working as part of a wider team.

I strive to provide clear, practical and timely advice, together with robust and effective representation. My aim is always to achieve a pragmatic and effective resolution to issues and disputes in line with your goals and expectations.

You can expect an acknowledgment and initial response to an inquiry / instructions within 24 hours of receipt (to discuss fees, papers required and timescales etc.). My aim is to deal substantively with a set of instructions (such as to advise or draft a document) within 1-2 weeks of acknowledge (depending on the case and other professional commitments).
