ProfileI am a friendly, approachable and experienced Barrister with the ability to set clients at ease. I practice from Becket Chambers and most of my work is in Sussex and Kent although I am happy to travel to other areas. I work with clients under the DPA scheme in civil and criminal matters. I have a wealth of experience in court and a reputation for sound advice, diligence and skilled advocacy. During a career break to spend time with my young family, I became an Associate Law Lecturer as well as setting up and running my own business.
My clients value the ability to ‘think outside the box’ which my broad experience has given me, and I have a reputation for being friendly and easy to work with. This reputation has been built not only on my professional and thorough approach but also on my ability to reassure even the most nervous or vulnerable clients. My experience of life away from the law helps me to understand my clients’ situations and to relate to people of all backgrounds, and I believe that it is this, as well as my legal knowledge and skills, that my clients particularly appreciate.
However I’m also known as a tenacious advocate in court, and have appeared in a wide range of hearings from applications at first instance to arguing points on appeal. I have a keen eye for detail and a strong determination to achieve the best possible outcome for my clients.
In addition to providing advice, I am experienced in preparing pleadings, draft Orders and applications. I believe that clear and accessible guidance is essential to the success of a case and that my clients appreciate the way that I am able to distil complex information into practical written advice. Just as important to my clients is the emphasis I place on providing excellent client care, and diligence in ensuring that paperwork is both accurately and efficiently dealt with.
As well as developing my busy practice I still lecture to undergraduate law students and am also a School Governor. When time permits I am a keen runner and completed the Brighton Marathon in 2016 raising over £2,500 for SANDS and Arthritis Care.
