I practise intellectual property, information and communications technology, entertainment and media and related areas of law. Within those specializations I claim expertise in advising start-ups and other small businesses on the best way to protect, and make money from, their investment in branding, design, technology and works of arts and literature.

I am often asked to advise on such questions as "Which is the best way to protect my business idea?", "Does my new product fall within any of the claims of my competitor's patent?", "Please read through this draft contract and advise me of the consequences for my business" and "How should I respond to this letter before claim?"

I am also asked to draft documents for use in business such as software development agreements, escrow instruments, licences and assignments, terms and conditions of business and privacy codes. Sometimes I am asked to draft documents for use in dispute resolution such as letters before claim and responses, particulars of claim, defences and other statements of case, application notices, draft minutes of order, witness statements, affidavits and skeleton arguments.

I represent parties in negotiations, mediation, arbitration and other alternative dispute resolution proceedings. If a dispute cannot be resolved amicably I represent parties at trials and hearings before the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court, the Patents Court, the Intellectual Property List of the Chancery Division and the County Court in London, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and other hearing centres. I also appear before the Intellectual Property Office's hearing officers in patent, trade mark and design cases.

Wherever possible I will offer a fixed fee for my services. If that is not possible I will negotiate a fair and transparent charging basis and offer a detailed explanation of all charges. If it is necessary or advisable to call on the services of another professional such as a patent or trade mark attorney, solicitor or foreign lawyer I can help the client identify and instruct the right person.

I have been ranked by Chambers & Partners' as a Band 1 practitioner for intellectual property. They have commended me as "especially good at advising new businesses” and described me as "a strong trial counsel". The Legal 500 have said that I am "a hugely experienced junior,"
