ProfileJane is a family lawyer. She accepts instructions in private law disputes involving divorce, finances and children on family break up. She represents husbands/fathers, wives/mothers and grandparents.
Family disputes are often highly charged and Jane deals with these cases with sensitivity and care, providing expert legal advice and practical support. In all cases, Jane prides herself in supporting her clients through difficult times. She quickly identifies the issues and seeks to narrow them, reducing any delay, stress and needless expense for her clients.
Jane's meetings with clients are highly effective. No time is wasted and certain progress is made. At court, Jane negotiates effectively on her clients behalf and robustly asserts their case.
Direct access means that the client remains in control, undertaking some of the work themselves and leaving the complex parts to Jane. That way her clients have a birds eye view of their case at all times.
Based in Huddersfield, Jane is a barrister with extensive experience of advocacy and legal casework. Starting her career working from Broadway House Chambers, Jane's practice included private law and public law cases involving appearances at the High Court and the Court of Appeal. Some years later, she moved to the Crown Prosecution Service where she was promoted to the role of Senior Crown Prosecutor. Her casework involved close liaison with the police and survivors of domestic abuse.
Due to Jane's extensive legal knowledge and expertise, she was promoted to (their flagship service) CPS Direct. Whilst there, she was appointed CPS Domestic Violence Co-ordinator. In her free time, Jane undertook voluntary work advising and supporting survivors of domestic abuse at the Kirklees Domestic Violence Forum.
Jane was then employed by Her Majesties Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate (HMCPSI). Whilst there, she participated in national joint inspections including the CPS Rape Review, HMRC Carousel Frauds and Customs and Excise Inspections at Heathrow. At that time, she was also an active member of the editorial group for the National Safeguarding Children Report 2008 and the Bar Council Equality and Diversity Sub Committee.
Jane now practices from Huddersfield Chambers and works exclusively in family law.
