I qualified as a barrister in 2005 and specialise in cases involving professional negligence, costs, insurance law and commercial disputes as well as some other niche areas.

I am down to earth, approachable, fight hard for my clients but am also pragmatic. I give clear advice and stick to my guns. I am recommended by the professional directories for the work I do and am regularly instructed by large national and international firms of solicitors. But I also enjoy working more closely with the client and the business and so happily accept direct access instructions.

My clients are usually individuals or businesses who are capable of dealing with day to day litigation themselves but want to get quick and specialist help in respect of discrete aspects - advice on the strength of their case, advice about court procedure, drafting of formal pleadings and representation at hearings.

A typical case will be a dispute between an insured and an insurer, a challenge to the costs of a firm of solicitors, defending a professional from or suing a professional for a former client, or disputes between businesses. My work tends to involve cases worth between £50,000 and £1m. Below that it tends to not be cost-effective. Above that and cases tend to be too complicated to be carried out without a solicitor.

I am happy to have a preliminary meeting in my offices in London without charge to talk about the nature of the case, to meet with you and see if we can work well together and discuss the best way to proceed. After that I like to agree fixed fees for discrete aspects of work so that there are no nasty surprises.
