She is an expert in discrimination law with particular expertise in age discrimination and equal pay matters. The majority of her work is in the employment field but she is also involved in cases where allegations of discrimination are in made in relation to schools, universities and other service providers.

Trial work

Dee has a busy courtroom practice spending the majority of her time in multi-week trials. She is regularly instructed in sensitive, high profile cases where there is a risk of press interest. Her clients include multinational companies, banks, universities, schools, charities, NHS trusts and local authorities as well as employees.

Advisory work

In recent years, Dee has advised the Equality Commission of Northern Ireland (ECNI) and the Northern Ireland Commissioner for Children and Young People (NICCY) on its response to proposed legislation extending the existing prohibition on age discrimination. In August 2015, she was the keynote speaker at a conference attended by politicians and policy makers in Belfast concerning age discrimination. Dee has also been advising AGE PLATFORM, an NGO, on a proposed European Directive which will extend the prohibition on age discrimination. In 2014, she advised the Equality and Human Rights Commission on the extent to which gender segregation was permitted within university campuses.
