William is a family law barrister specializing in all matters concerning family finance including financial remedies on divorce, cohabitation disputes (TOLATA), schedule one applications and property law. In addition he accepts instructions in related matters under the Children Act 1989, the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and has a growing Personal injury practice.

Care and Private law Children Act work

In public law children work he represents parents, children and other parties at all stages of care and adoption proceedings, including complex fact finding hearings over a number of days. William’s experience has included issues of serious domestic violence, sexual abuse, non-accidental injury including serious injuries to infants and chronic neglect.

In private law Children Act work he has particular experience in international relocation cases, intractable contact disputes involving allegations of parent alienation and cases involving domestic violence.

William is instructed on all aspects of land and property litigation including easements, boundary disputes, adverse possession and landlord and tenant work. His landlord and tenant work comprises both commercial and residential leases and includes disrepair claims, granting new business tenancies, mortgage and rent possession work. Recent cases have included claims for breaches of the tenancy deposit scheme, eviction of trespassers, breaches of repair covenants, antisocial behaviour and breaches of the Equality Act.

Court of Protection

William represents Local Authorities, care providers, vulnerable adults and family members in deprivation of liberty applications. As well as dealing with cases concerning issues of capacity, replacement of nearest relatives, the removal and appointment of deputies and best interest decisions relating to financial and health and welfare disputes before the Court of Protection.

Personal injury

William acts for both Claimants and Defendants alike in all aspects of personal injury work. In Road traffic claims he has particular experience in low velocity impact cases including claims involving allegations of fraud, and credit hire work on the multi track.
