Paula Clements regards education law as an exciting and challenging arena,
where the law is constantly changing and evolving. She is experienced at
advising and appearing before the Special Educational Needs and Disability
Tribunal (SENDIST) in both disability discrimination claims and special
educational needs appeals.
Her cases have involved issues such as the
provision of aural aids for a child with special educational needs,
discrimination in the refusal of a school ski trip to a physically disabled
pupil, and also in examination conditions for an autistic spectrum disorder
Paula trains local admission authorities’
Independent Appeals Panels and advises and represents parents at panel hearings
on admissions and exclusions. She also advises in other areas of education law,
such as school governance, school closures, transport and higher education
Paula delivers Continuing Professional
Development (CPD) seminars on Education, and is co-author (with Simon Oliver)
of "Enforcing Family Finance Orders” and a contributing author to "Special
Educational Needs and The Law” (both published by Jordan).
Outside work, Paula enjoys going for a strenuous
countryside walk, then relaxing with glass of her favourite wine when she gets
Family Law Bar Association; Designate.
