Mark’s diverse clients have included the Nigerian Ports Authority (in negotiations over the dredging of the Bonny Island Channel), the Italian President, Silvio Berlusconi (in his dispute with The Economist), the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (over the building of a power station in India) and Craig Whyte (in Ticketus v Whyte [2013], the litigation arising out of the financing of his controversial acquisition of Rangers Football Club) and as leading counsel for the amicus curiae over a US $1.5 billion recoupment claim in the Stanford International Bank liquidation in Antigua. His Holiness Pope Benedict knighted him in recognition of “his work as a barrister and law professor for the Catholic Church” in 2007.
Called to the English Bar in 1990, the British Virgin Islands Bar in 2013 and the DIFC (Dubai) Bar in 2018, he is a Visiting Professor at the University of Westminster.
