ProfileI specialise primarily in matrimonial finance. My practice encompasses high net worth money (financial remedy/ancillary relief) cases, cohabitation disputes, including applications for financial relief for children under Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989, Part III MCA 1973, child maintenance disputes and REMO cases. I have a particular interest in cases involving an international element or jurisdictional issues in all spheres of family law practice. I am particularly adept in handling cases with complex legal issues or where robust cross-examination is required. I am routinely instructed in complicated cases, particularly those involving offshore assets, detailed company accounts, nuptial agreements, trusts or cases involving concealed or dissipated assets. I frequently undertake work in relation to international maintenance cases.
I had a successful practice in the North East of England and retain strong links there. I am widely considered to give direct, robust advice in an approachable fashion.
In addition to my financial practice, I undertake private Children Act proceedings. I am particularly experienced in applications to remove children from the jurisdiction and in international child abduction disputes, cases under the 1980 and 1996 Hague Conventions / Brussels IIR. I have a strong background in public law proceedings (although no longer take on this sort of work).
I am frequently instructed in the High Court and Court of Appeal and have appeared in the Supreme Court. My chambers profile can be found at: http://fourteen.co.uk/our-people/our-barristers/ben-boucher-giles
