Prior to his admissions to the Bar, Waqar was an accredited senior immigration caseworker with extensive knowledge in the area of immigration law. Waqar has previously litigated and advocated for individuals. He appeared in courts on a regular basis, both at the First-Tier and Upper-Tier Tribunals, relating to matters concerning asylum, human rights, deportation, articles 3/8 ECHR and entry clearance.
Waqar has conducted over 250 immigration cases, handling complex matters concerning asylum, trafficking, and modern slavery.
Waqar is often described as approachable and resilient, frequently dealing with extremely vulnerable clients, particularly those with complex mental health issues and/or those who have suffered significant trauma. Waqar often addresses issues such as modern slavery, persecution, and domestic violence.
Waqar has also developed a practice in family and civil law. Waqar is knowledgeable in undertaking work in relation to private and public children law and domestic abuse matters as well as dealing with landlord and tenant matters. Additionally, Waqar has extensive experience in dealing with motor offences.
