Direct Access Barrister

Sam Glover

I am a junior barrister practising in all areas of tax law.

My practice covers all UK taxes including (but not limited to): income tax, corporation tax, capital gains tax, inheritance tax, VAT, customs and excise duties, and SDLT.
In addition to advising and acting for clients on issues of substantive tax law my work also encompasses all other areas of dispute between taxpayers and HMRC including (but not limited to): all forms of penalties, PAYE issues, information notices, discovery assessments and requesting permission to appeal out of time.
I also accept instructions on issues around trusts, wills and estates where they have a substantive tax element, questions of UK taxation involving offshore matters and professional negligence claims concerning tax-related issues.
I am a co-author of the costs and disclosure chapters of the Tax Litigation Handbook and regularly lecture and publish articles on subjects relevant to my practice.
Further information is available on my chambers' website: www.pumptax.com

Area of Law

Tax and Revenue

I practice exclusively in tax and revenue law.

What sort of work do I do?

My practice includes advising and litigating.
I advise clients in both contentious (i.e. where litigation is in prospect) and non-contentious (i.e. planning) contexts. This includes drafting documents and correspondence with HMRC or other involved parties.
I also represent clients in the First-tier Tribunal.

Who do I work for?

I act and advise a broad range of clients from members of the public on a direct access basis to city law firms and accountants.
I also receive instructions from HMRC.
