I have been an advocate since 2010. I specialise in civil law, specifically contractual disputes and property disputes (including landlord and tenant and disputes about ownership or transfer of property or land).

Rebecca has previously qualified as a Fellow of CILEx and a solicitor with higher rights, in addition to being a barrister. She has a general civil practice but specialises in contractual and property matters. Rebecca is determined to provide the highest level of service to each client to ensure they receive the best advice and service she can offer. Rebecca understands that every case is important to the parties involved and works with the client to ensure their voice is heard. Rebecca was shortlisted for Barrister of the Year by Birmingham Law Society 2022.

Area of Law

Banking and Financial Services

I am able to assist if you have difficulties with or a dispute in relation to a loan or finance (often for vehicles) that you have taken out with a financial provider.

Chancery

I can assist with your property disputes, including land. I have been instructed on a number of cases involving family members or ex-partners who dispute how much they are entitled to from a jointly owned property and whether or not the property should be sold. I am also able to assist on some insolvency matters.

Commercial

I have experience of business to business disputes and business to consumer disputes and can assist with your contractual matters.

Costs

I regularly advocate in respect costs following the conclusion of a hearing. I am also able to assist if you have a dispute with a previous lawyer about the costs that you should pay them for the work they did.

Defamation

I have advised clients in respect of things said or published about them and whether or not they can take any action in respect of it.

Housing and Social Welfare

I have dealt with housing matters for over 11 years and am happy to assist with your landlord and tenant, or mortgage, disputes. This can include evictions, disrepair, harassment, breaches of express or implied terms. I also have experience in respect of long leases.

What sort of work do I do?

I will undertake work in the County Court and the High Court on a direct access basis. You can come to me for advice, guidance on procedure, drafting of documents, of to attend hearings for you.
I can be instructed on most contractual and property disputes and some examples are as follow:
- Unpaid invoices.
- Breach of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 (goods/services not fit for purposes or of satisfactory quality).
- Business to business contractual disputes.
- Disputes about who owns what percentage of a property (often referred to as TOLATA).
- Mortgage evictions.
- Residential landlord and tenant evictions.
- Commercial landlord and tenant evictions.
- Forfeiture/renewal disputes in commercial landlord and tenant matters.

Who do I work for?

I represent both individuals and businesses in respect of contractual disputes. I also represent both landlords and tenants in respect of property disputes.
I also represent individuals who jointly own property with someone they are not married to and wish to get their share out. This could be a relationship that has broken down, a family dispute, or a business deal that has turned sour.
