My usual clients are parents who are in high conflict, national and international disputes concerning their children. I practice from chambers : 4pb which the largest chambers in England and Wales practising only in the field of Family Law.
Area of Law
Family
I have represent clients up and down the country and in the High Court, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court. My clients are parents, children , grandparents and institutions. I have lectured to other lawyers as far afield as India to Armenia and I have appeared in the courts of the Cayman Islands and the British Virgin Islands. My fees are high and this reflects the fact that I very experienced, have an international reputation and am (currently) very busy. However I appreciate that our legal system is not perfect and can seem byzantine and complicated. If I have the time and I find your initial enquiry legally interesting, I am happy to speak to you pro bono, for a few minutes to help signpost you and give you general help.
Private International Law
I have often advised clients both in this country and abroad about cases involving their children, notably cases involving the 1996 and 1980 Hague Conventions. I often liaise with legal teams abroad on a direct access basis , so as to avoid solicitors' fees in England in addition to the foreign lawyers's fees.
What sort of work do I do?
International and national child law cases. Representing people for many different backgrounds both in pre-litigation and Court cases. I also offer a (non-MIAMS , private) mediation service.
Who do I work for?
I represent and advise parents, the children themselves, Cafcass, countries, and have been invited as the advocate to the court. Most of my cases come via solicitors but a large proportion of my clients find it more cost effective to instruct me direct.
