Area of Law

Commercial

I deal with a wide variety of subjects including the law relating to contracts, insurance and reinsurance and partnerships and joint ventures. Commercial law applies to the rights, relations and conduct of individuals and businesses engaged in buying, selling, trading, and merchandising (the marketing of products for sale).

Crime

I defend people accused of crimes, as well as trials in the Crown Court and Magistrates’ Court, at pre-trial hearings, during the sentencing and post-sentencing (such as confiscation) processes, and on appeal.

Family

I deal with divorce/dissolution or separation of two partners, including issues relating to
the matters of domestic violence, the financial settlement and property in divorce cases and adoption and surrogacy.

Human Rights

I represent clients' Human rights which cover the basic rights and freedoms that are guaranteed, in law, to every individual. In the UK, a person’s rights are set out in the Human Rights Act 1998

Immigration, Asylum and Nationality

I advise, prepare and represent individuals in their Immigration, asylum, and nationality related matters and the movement of people in and out of the UK generally. These include areas such as unlawful detention (when law enforcement restricts a person’s freedom without just cause), asylum applications and refugee status, humanitarian protection, deportation, EEA issues, entry clearance, settlement and the Points-Based Scheme, including the Tier 1 (General) system (Highly skilled individuals, Investors, Entrepreneurs and Post Study Work), applications for UK Work Permits under the Tier 2 System, as well as Student applications under the Tier 4 system.
I also represent companies and organisations /businesses. Appeals to higher courts.

Landlord and Tenant

I assist both individual clients, as well as organisations in all matters involving the legal relationship between landlords and their tenants, be it in relation to residential or commercial property. These involve leasehold extensions, breaches of covenants, possession actions as well as providing expert advice to those entering into leases and licences in respect of property

Wills and Probate

I help clients to resolve a wide range of inheritance related issues and disputes. Probate is the process of proving that a will is valid (if there is one) and confirming who has the authority to administer the estate of the person who has died. If you are named in someone's will as an executor, you may have to apply for probate and may require assistance from a barrister in doing so.

What sort of work do I do?

I provide individuals and organisations with advice (including written advice) and represent them in courts in the areas of law that I practice in. My areas of practice are Commercial, Crime, Oil and Gas, Landlord and Tenant, Immigration and Human Rights, Wills and Probate, Arbitration and Family.

Who do I work for?

As a direct access barrister, I am able to take on individual clients and represent them in court or advice them on their matters without the need for an intermediary. I also represent companies/organisations without an intermediary. In other words, the public can approach me directly to seek my assistance in legal matters.
