Carlton Christensen

I have 40+ years’ litigation experience in a range of contexts which includes disputes relating to property ownership or transfer, tenancies, contracts, wills, purchase of goods, partnerships, debt/insolvency and professional negligence.

Area of Law

Chancery

Litigation and advice on general chancery matters, including partnership, company, personal and corporate insolvency and general trust work.

Landlord and Tenant

I have 40+ years' experience of providing advice and legal representation on matters relating to disputes between landlord and tenant arising out of breach of covenant on one part or the other in respect of both business and residential leases/ tenancies. It includes disputes arising out of breaches of repairing obligations, service charge disputes and non-payment of rent. I deal with possession claims in both the residential and business context including those which concern assured shorthold tenancies.

Partnership and Joint Ventures

Over the years I have dealt with numerous cases arising out of disputes between partners. In a different context, I successfully represented a client who had been wrongly held to have been a partner in a firm and so liable for its debts. That was in the Court of Appeal and settled the relevant law as to who is a partner where the membership of a firm changes.

Professional Negligence

My experience is confined to litigation and advice in respect of the handling property transactions and/or litigation, including wasted costs jurisdiction.

Property

Litigation and advice on all matters relating to interests in land, including real property sales and associated conveyancing matters, business and residential tenancies, public sector housing, mortgage disputes, boundary disputes, nuisance, trespass, adverse possession, constructive trusts and proprietary estoppel

What sort of work do I do?

I advise individuals on legal problems arising their private and business affairs, draft relevant documents and appear on their behalf in various courts and tribunals including the High Court, Court of Appeal and the County Court.

Who do I work for?

My clients come from all walks of life. The only common feature they share is that they required assistance in an area in which I practice.
