What is a Direct Access Barrister?
Until recently barristers could not be approached directly by the public. If you wished to use the services of a barrister you would first need to instruct a solicitor. That system has now changed. You may now instruct a barrister directly if they offer their services under Direct Access.
Not all barristers offer Direct Access. Many barristers still only accept instructions from solicitors (or from licensed professions). All of the barristers listed on DAP offer Direct Access.
